Meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka and the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Hungary Peter Polt occurred

Today in the General Prosecutor's office of Russia it was held a meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yuri Chayka with the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Hungary Peter Polt.

The meeting was also attended by senior officers of the General Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Hungary.

In his speech of welcome, Yuri Chayka noted that in recent years interdepartmental cooperation is increasing development both in the bilateral as well as in the multilateral format, and raising common tasks and objectives on provision of protection of the rights of citizens demand the necessity for closer cooperation.

The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation also stated that the cooperation Program for the years of 2009-2011 signed in the framework of the Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Hungary, was successfully implemented. Five joint meetings on the most topical directions of the activity of Prosecutor's offices of two countries were held, and the occurred exchange of experience was very useful for improving the efficiency of the public prosecutor's work.

In connection with this, the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation proposed to continue the interdepartmental cooperation in the format of the bilateral program for the next two years period. It was offered to consider as priority the issues of fighting against transnational organized criminality and corruption, the provision of legal assistance in criminal cases, including the return of assets obtained via criminal activities, participation of public prosecutors in the court processes of criminal and civil cases, as well as the planning of the activities of bodies and institutions of the Prosecutor's office.

In his turn Peter Polt noted that the interaction of the bodies of the Prosecutor's office of two countries in the framework of the Program of cooperation allowed increasing the credibility of the departments in the international arena. He also supported the idea of further cooperation and suggested to sign the appropriate document in the beginning of next year in Budapest. At the same time the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Hungary spoke with the initiative to expand the scope of inter-department cooperation, including into the Program of cooperation the issues on protection of the rights of children and youth as well as statistical analysis.

The participants of the meeting expressed their focusing on all-side deepening and further development of fruitful bilateral relations, which will allow not only increasing of effectiveness of joint work, but also will serve as a solid Foundation for further joint actions.

In his turn, Peter Polt gratified Yuri Chayka for the warm reception and the opportunity to exchange opinions on a wide range of issues.
