Today in the General Prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation it was held a meeting of the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in the Russian Federation Li Yong Ho.
The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Embassy of Korea in the Russian Federation and the heads of subdivisions of the General Prosecutor’s office of Russia.
During his welcoming speech, the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka noted that one of the priorities of the partnership between Russia and the Republic of Korea is the interaction of law-and-order bodies in the struggling against criminality, ensuring the protection of the rights of citizens and the protection of the rules of law. Yury Chayka has particularly emphasized that in this process the Prosecutor's offices of Russia and the Republic of Korea carry out the active work on the development of interdepartmental cooperation.
He noted that the previously signed Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Korea and the Program of interdepartmental cooperation for the years of 2011 and 2012 are being successfully realized.
In March it will be held the first event foreseen by the Program which will be devoted to the issues of the place, role, competencies and structures of the Prosecutor's offices of Russia and the Republic of Korea. For this event it was coincided the visit of the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Korea Jun-Gyu Kim to Moscow.
Moreover, before the end of the current year it is planned to carry out two more joint events, devoted to the issues of struggling against illegal drugs trafficking, human trafficking, organized criminality and also the questions of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters.
The General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation noted that such events provide an opportunity to exchange experiences of solving of such kind of problems with which the prosecution officers face every day, that undoubtedly positively reflect on the efficiency of work in the field of protection of citizens' rights, the fight against criminality and strengthening of legislation in our countries.
In the rounding up of the meeting the parties expressed the readiness to continue the constructive cooperation and expressed strong targeting on all-round deepening and development of Russian-South Korean relations.
