Agreements between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Public Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Justice and the Police of the Kingdom of Norway were signed

Today, in the city of Oslo, in the course of the official visit of the President of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Norway with the participation of Mr. Dmitry Medvedev and Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, the Agreements were signed between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Public Prosecutor General's Office of the Kingdom of Norway, and between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice and the Police of the Kingdom of Norway.

Mr. Yury Chaika, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, signed the documents on behalf of Russia, and Mr. Tor-Aksel Busch, the Norwegian Director of Public Prosecutions, and Mr. Terje Moland Pedersen, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice and the Police of the Kingdom of Norway, signed the documents on behalf of Norway.

The agreement between the Prosecutors General of the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Norway envisage the sharing of information and experience in the sphere of protection of human rights and freedoms, combating crime, including in its organized form, terrorism, corruption, illegal trafficking of arms and weapons, drugs and psychotropic substances, crimes in the sphere of economy and other types of crimes, posing serious threat to the society.

The document is also aimed at cooperation in the issues of legal assistance and extradition in criminal matters, sharing their practice, exchange of information on crime development, the legal system and legislation, methodological materials, training materials and scientific and research publications as well as training and advanced qualification training of the employees of the prosecution bodies of the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Norway.

Within the framework of the arrangements made, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice and the Police of the Kingdom of Norway will exchange information on the legal system and legislation of the two countries, law-making activities and measures to execute laws, the tendencies in crime; cooperate in the issues of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters; train and improve qualification of the personnel for prosecution bodies and institutions; organize scientific and research activities on the issues of mutual interest.
