The Program on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro

Mr. Yury Chaika, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, arrived with an official visit to the city of Podgorica, the Republic of Montenegro.

Today, in the course of his visit, Mr. Yu. Chaika met Ms. Ranka Carapic, the Supreme State Prosecutor of Montenegro. In the course of the meeting heads of the departments signed the cooperation program between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro for 2010-2011. This document is based on the cooperation agreement between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro which was signed in the city of Podgorica on September 08, 2006.

The program of visit provides for joint activities, including seminars and round tables on a wide range of issues.

Thus, until the end of the year the seminar will be held on the theme: "The practice of planning the activities of prosecution bodies of Russia and Montenegro, monitoring the executed of the scheduled activities."

Moreover, the program envisages the cooperation of departments in combating corruption, elaboration of joint methodology aimed at fighhting different forms of crime, including transnational and organized crime, providing legal assistance in criminal matters. Moreover, an exchange of departmental and research publications is to be made within the framework of the above mentioned events.

Mr. Yury Chaika noted that the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office of Montenegro for 2010-2011 and the joint measures, envisaged by the program and carried out within its framework, will contribute to further increase in efficiency of the activities of the departments in the sphere of protection of human rights and freedoms as well as in the area of combating crime. Moreover, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stated that such cooperation is especially urgent in the light of the court and law reforms, carried out in both countries.
