Today Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika has met with Minister of Justice, Minister of Treasury and Budget of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Mr. Luc Frieden.
In his welcome address, Yuri Chaika noted the long-standing friendly relations of two countries based on mutual interest in strengthening democracy, peace and safety. The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly appreciated the co-operation between Russia and Luxembourg within the Council of Europe.
Talking about organization of interdepartmental co-operation of the law-enforcement authorities of the Russian Federation and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Yuri Chaika underlined the importance of further comprehensive development of relations. In his opinion, it would allow to enhance the coordination of the actions of two countries including in legal assistance and extradition.
Following the results of the talks, Yuri Chaika and Luc Frieden discussed the draft bilateral Agreement on Co-operation aimed at implementation of the intended purposes and tasks in the law-enforcement practice. Both colleagues confirmed the intention to assess the said draft Agreement introducing relevant remarks and proposals to further sign it.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said he was confident that the meeting would enhance the efficiency of professional relations and development of a dialogue on a wide range of legal issues with the colleagues from Luxembourg.
