Today Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika has met in St. Petersburg with Federal Minister of Justice of Germany Mrs. Brigitte Zypries.
During the constructive talks, the two colleagues stressed the importance to strengthen and further develop mutual co-operation in the fight against crime, to share information on the legal system and legislation of countries, law-making activities and measures taken to execute laws in the areas falling within the competence of these two Officers.
Following the results of the meeting, Yuri Chaika and Brigitte Zypries signed the Joint Statement on Co-operation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Federal Ministry of Justice of Germany.
The document provides for co-operation in compliance with the laws and international obligations of both countries, organization of meetings and consultations to exchange experience, discussion of issues of mutual interest and co-operation in the field of mutual legal assistance and extradition.
The participants of the dialogue agreed on the necessity to organize on a regular basis conferences, round tables and consultations on issues of mutual interest thus enhancing the efficiency of joint work.

MEETING OF THE PROSECUTOR GENERAL OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION WITH THE FEDERAL MINISTER OF JUSTICE OF GERMANY
