At Russia's Request UAE is Extraditing the Accused Wanted Internationally for Fraud
Text

At the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, the competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates are extraditing Russian citizen Andrey Plotnikov for him to face criminal prosecution under Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

According to the investigation, in 2018, Plotnikov convinced 15 individuals to enter into asset management agreements at international financial markets, receiving over 80 million rubles from them with no intention of honoring his commitments.

Plotnikov subsequently evaded law enforcement. Upon the instruction of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, he was placed on the international wanted list.

An extradition request was submitted following his detention in the United Arab Emirates.

Thanks to close cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and its foreign colleagues, a positive decision was secured for the transfer of the accused.

He is being escorted to Russia today.
