At the request of the Russian side, Bosnia and Herzegovina extradites an individual accused of extortion

At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina are extraditing Magomed Bekarov for him to face criminal charges under Article 163, Part 2, paragraphs "a", "b", and "d" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion).

According to the investigation, on September 16, 2023, the accused, together with Movsar Soltaliev and Aslan Natsishvili, while in a room at a hotel in Moscow, threatening with a knife, stole money and a wristwatch from the victim.

The accomplices of Bekarov have already been convicted for committing the said crime.

Since the accused evaded law enforcement authorities, a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention was imposed on him in absentia. On the instruction of the supervisory agency, he was placed on the international wanted list.

The request for Bekarov's extradition was sent following reports of his apprehension in May of last year withing the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Due to the coordinated actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the organized interaction with the competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the extradition of the accused was achieved.

Accompanied by officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the NCB Interpol of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Bekarov will be transported to Moscow via Türkiye.
