A Meeting of the Delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Took Place in Baku

During a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, a delegation led, on the instruction of the Prosecutor General of Russia Aleksandr Gutsan, by his Deputy Petr Gorodov was received by the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev.

Prospects for further cooperation between the prosecutorial authorities of the two countries were discussed, including within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as preparations for the meeting of the Coordinating Council of Prosecutors General of the CIS Member States, scheduled for September 30th in Kazan.

During the meeting, the parties noted effective interaction on issues of extradition, provision of legal assistance, and law enforcement cooperation in criminal cases. Plans were considered for the participation of representatives from the prosecutor's offices of both states in expert events, including those concerning the management and disposal of assets of corrupt origin, converted to state revenue, as well as the legal regulation of the circulation of digital currencies and other virtual assets.

Given the importance of joint work on multilateral platforms, Petr Gorodov also emphasized the significance of Azerbaijani colleagues' participation this May in the International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum," within the framework of which the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia will organize a thematic session dedicated to Ensuring Freedom of Economic Activity and Technological Sovereignty in the Context of the End of the Globalization Era.

Furthermore, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for cooperation among the Prosecutor's Offices of the Caspian Region to combine efforts to protect the Caspian Sea and combat crime in that territory.
