The working program of the head of the prosecutorial authority began with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to 1,200 Soldiers of the 11th Guards Army – a mass grave of soldiers who fell during the storming of the city and fortress of Königsberg in April 1945. Aleksandr Gutsan honored the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War at the Eternal Flame, paying tribute to their feat.
During the visit, the Prosecutor General of Russia held a series of meetings at the Prosecutor's Office of the Kaliningrad Region. He discussed current issues on the regional agenda with the Governor and the Regional Prosecutor, the Northwestern Transport Prosecutor, the Commander of the Baltic Fleet, and the leadership of a number of other agencies.
During a meeting with the staff of the prosecutor's office, Aleksandr Gutsan emphasized that the Kaliningrad Region is a special region where many issues require constant attention from prosecutors.
"First and foremost, these are factors stemming from its geographical location that affect the quality of life of people. They are related to ensuring transport accessibility and compliance with the guaranteed volume of social rights and benefits provided by the state," said the head of the prosecutorial authority.
The Prosecutor General of Russia outlined the priorities that must guide efforts to effectively ensure the rule of law.
"Let us work and orient ourselves and our subordinates toward the final result. Not to report with numbers, not to talk about how many meetings we held – coordination meetings, operational meetings," stated Aleksandr Gutsan. "Instead, let us talk about specific results: what we have done and how it has affected particular areas of activity of executive authorities in protecting the rights and interests of citizens, the state of legality during the investigation of criminal cases, or during the prosecution in court."
The head of the prosecutorial authority particularly noted that citizens are indifferent to the number of meetings held, as they are only interested in one thing – whether the situation has changed or not. He also outlined other important issues requiring attention and wished the staff success in strengthening the rule of law.
Aleksandr Gutsan also visited the branch of the State Fund for the Support of Special Military Operation Participants "Defenders of the Fatherland." The head of the prosecutorial authority discussed the Fund's activities with the leadership of the regional branch. Special attention was paid to conversations with social coordinators who work individually every day, helping SMO veterans and their family members resolve various life situations.
