The key event of Aleksandr Gutsan's working trip was the introduction of his deputy, Viktor Melnik, to the staff of the Prosecutor General's Office Department for the Far Eastern Federal District, the heads of subdivisions of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia, prosecutors of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation within the district, and equivalent specialized prosecutors.

The head of the supervisory authority announced the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation appointing Viktor Melnik as Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and outlined the issues to be addressed in his new role.

Aleksandr Gutsan noted that the Far East is a unique macro-region of strategic importance to the country due to its geographic location and vast natural resources.

"The people who live here are remarkable – hardworking, engaged, demanding of themselves and of the results of government agencies," the Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized. "The head of state has set ambitious tasks for the accelerated development of the Far East, creating comfortable living conditions for people, implementing major investment projects, ensuring transportation accessibility, preserving the environment, and protecting the rights of indigenous peoples."

Noting Viktor Melnik's professional trajectory – over a quarter century of work in the prosecutor's office, rising from trainee to prosecutor of St. Petersburg – Aleksandr Gutsan expressed confidence that his experience, knowledge, and character would enable him to successfully handle the most complex supervisory tasks.

Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Viktor Melnik has already assumed his official duties.
