A meeting between Russian Prosecutor General Aleksandr Gutsan and Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus Evgeny Kovalenko took place in Moscow.

Welcoming his foreign colleague, the head of the supervisory authority noted that relations between Russia and Belarus are based on the unbreakable bond between our peoples, shared national interests, history, cultural and spiritual values.

The Prosecutor General of Russia emphasized that in February of this year, by directive of the Supreme State Council of the Union State "On Mutual Support and Cooperation in the Field of International Justice," mechanisms were introduced to protect Russians and Belarusians from prosecution by foreign states, judicial instances and arbitrations.

"The Prosecutor General's Office of Russia has considerable experience in countering attempts by Western structures to interfere in our internal affairs and to destabilize the social and economic situation," Aleksandr Gutsan noted. "And we are always ready to share it."

In order to develop further cooperation, the parties signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

The document provides for the coordination of joint work and the exchange of experience on matters of protecting the rights of citizens, as well as representing state interests in international bodies and courts. This primarily relates to the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Economic Court of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as national courts.
