Indictment Approved in DPR in Criminal Case Against Mercenary from Georgia

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Donetsk People’s Republic has approved the indictment in the criminal case against 34-year-old citizen of Georgia Nuri Mitagvaria. He is accused in absentia under Article 359, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict).

According to the investigation, in March 2022, Mitagvaria arrived in Ukraine, where he underwent military training and was provided with firearms and everything necessary for participation in the armed conflict. Thereafter, until January 2026, he took part as a mercenary in hostilities against servicemen of the Russian Federation as part of the Georgian National Legion, later moving to the paramilitary formation "Sukhumi Unit" of the 128th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine and the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodny Yar" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The amount of remuneration received by the mercenary exceeded 3.7 million rubles.

Mitagvaria has been placed on the international wanted list, and a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention was imposed upon him in absentia by the court.

The criminal case has been sent to the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People’s Republic for consideration on the merits.
