At the aircraft ramp, Russia’s Prosecutor General was met by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Igor Morgulov, and by the leadership of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the PRC.
In Beijing, Aleksandr Gutsan will hold talks with the Procurator-General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the PRC, Ying Yong, and will also discuss bilateral cooperation with the leadership of a number of other competent authorities. The meetings are scheduled to include the signing of documents aimed at strengthening and further developing relations with each of the agencies.
For reference: cooperation between the supervisory agencies of the two countries is systematic and methodical, and rests on many years of mutually beneficial partnership across various fields of law enforcement. Seven cooperation programs have been carried out between the prosecution services of Russia and China, in the framework of which more than 20 joint events have been held. Contacts at the level of the Prosecutors General are regular and are conducted in both bilateral and multilateral formats. The principal venues for such meetings are events held within the framework of the SCO and BRICS. Representatives of the supervisory agencies of the two countries take part on a systematic basis in interagency consultations on extradition, legal assistance, the provision of law-enforcement support in criminal cases, and other matters of mutual interest.
