A meeting between Aleksandr Gutsan and the Minister of Justice of the PRC, He Rong, proved important for the further strengthening of international contacts with China’s competent authorities.
Welcoming his foreign counterpart, the head of the Russian supervisory agency set out a task common to the two agencies — to ensure the implementation of the course toward developing comprehensive cooperation set by President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.
“Undoubtedly, an important role in this is played by strengthening bilateral contacts, working effectively within the existing mechanisms of cooperation, and establishing direct channels of communication,” Russia’s Prosecutor General said. “To this end, a Memorandum on Cooperation has been drawn up.”
The head of the Russian supervisory agency noted that the document provides for the exchange of information on a wide range of issues, as well as the conduct of mutual visits, consultations and research.
“It is important that we have agreed to align our positions and coordinate our actions at multilateral international venues,” Aleksandr Gutsan emphasized.
As the next stage in improving the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation, Russia’s Prosecutor General proposed developing a joint Cooperation Program.
“This will make it possible to pool efforts in the most pressing areas of activity, including the fight against transnational crime and digitalization in the field of ensuring the rule of law, including the introduction of artificial intelligence,” the head of the Russian delegation stated.
Aleksandr Gutsan expressed confidence that involving the respective departmental academic institutions, with their substantial research capabilities, would yield significant results.
The talks culminated in the signing by the parties of a Memorandum on Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China.
