The tournament was held for the fifth time, marking its anniversary this year. Since its establishment, nearly 2,800 young athletes from 55 regions of our country have taken part in the Cup.
In their pursuit of the Russian Prosecutor General's Cup, every athlete showed discipline, skill and a fierce determination to win. Over five years of competition, archers have hit more than 15,000 targets and loosed over 400,000 arrows in their quest for medals.
For the second year in a row, the tournament is hosted by Kazan, where for five days young athletes competed for medals at the Ak Bars Arena stadium. In two age categories in the disciplines of recurve and compound bow in individual and team events, 96 boys and girls became runners-up, and 16 archers and winning teams were awarded the Cup. The team from Zabaykalsky Krai became the absolute favorite in terms of the number of gold medals.
"The tournament was generous with vivid sporting moments and demonstrated the iron will to win and exceptional dedication of each of you. What we saw was not just a struggle for medals, but a true art of archery," said the Russian Prosecutor General.
Aleksandr Gutsan thanked the representatives of the federation, the coaching staff, judges, and parents for the high level of preparation of the children and the organization of this sporting event, noting that during the days of competition the ranks of archers were replenished with new titled champions: 10 athletes fulfilled the standard of Master of Sports of the Russian Federation for the first time.
"This opens the doors to big-time sports for the children and becomes a serious boost for making it to the national team," emphasized the head of the supervisory agency.
Closing the tournament, the Russian Prosecutor General wished all participants faith in victory and good luck in every new endeavor.
