The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov met with President of the Senate of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Thailand Pornpetch Wichitcholchai within the framework of his working visit.

Igor Krasnov thanked Pornpetch Wichitcholchai for his hospitality and noted the progress made by Thailand over the past years in many areas, including the economic one. He stressed that fruitful cooperation between our countries has a long history. Last year marked 125 years since the visit of His Majesty King
Rama V of Siam to St. Petersburg, when bilateral diplomatic relations were established.

“In my opinion, it is very important that Thailand, both then and now, adheres to an independent policy, despite the external pressure exerted by some states,” said the Russian Prosecutor General. “Our country shares the same position.”

The head of the Russian supervisory agency said that a special military operation is currently underway to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. One of its reasons was the inability to put up with the numerous crimes of the Kyiv authorities against the civilian population of Donbass. The shelling of residential areas, schools, hospitals, kindergartens by the Ukrainian armed forces and nationalist groups has not stopped for 9 years. With full connivance, or rather with the support of Western countries.

Igor Krasnov also pointed to ongoing attempts to distort the real state of affairs, to present Russia as an aggressor, including with the use of universal international institutions. In this regard, he noted the restrained and constructive approach of the Thai party to the current situation.

In a conversation with Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, the Prosecutor General of Russia spoke about the powers of the Russian supervisory agency.

“Every year I personally present a report to the senators of the Russian Federation on the state of law and order in the country, I make proposals on the need to adjust the current regulatory framework,” Igor Krasnov emphasized. – And I want to note the positive effect of such practice. Many pressing issues, together with legislators, can be quickly resolved.”

The head of the Russian supervisory agency noted that the Cooperation Program between the prosecution services of the two countries, signed during a meeting with the Attorney General of Thailand, will serve as an additional incentive for its activation, further convergence of positions in the field of countering common criminal threats. The most relevant among them, the Prosecutor General of Russia called transnational cybercrime, illegal circulation of virtual assets, corruption, terrorism, extremism, illegal migration and drug trafficking.

“I have no doubt that through joint efforts we will be able to effectively counter international criminal activity, and relations between Russia and Thailand on the widest range of issues will continue to strengthen in the same positive way,” Igor Krasnov said.

Finally, the Prosecutor General of Russia thanked Pornpetch Wichitcholchai for the meeting and wished him success in solving important public tasks, and well-being, peace and prosperity to the people of the Kingdom of Thailand.
