Today, on September 27, in Saint Petersburg, Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, and Ms. Nela Kuburovic, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, have signed the Agreement of Cooperation between their services.
The document provides for active cooperation between the Russian prosecution service and the Serbian Ministry of Justice, in particular, in combating organized crime, terrorism and corruption, as well as in mutual legal assistance in criminal and administrative matters.
The meeting of the Russian and Serbian parties took place in the Kochubey’s residence, where there is the first front office of the International Association of Prosecutors.
Please find below the speech of Mr. Yury Chayka, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation.
Dear Ms. Minister,
Dear colleagues,
I am grad to welcome you in Saint Petersburg, the northern capital of Russia!
I hope that you will have wonderful impressions of this visit.
Together we strive to strengthen law and order. I am firmly convinced that the fight against crime, which does not know state borders, and the activities to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens should be carried out consolidated on the basis of international treaties and national legislation.
Today, during our meeting we are signing an agreement that was developed and successfully agreed in the short time as part of the implementation of our agreement reached during the meeting in Belgrade in 2018.
This document provides for the possibility of cooperation in various forms on a wide range of issues such as combating organized crime, terrorism, corruption, other types of crimes, as well as in the field of extradition and legal assistance in criminal and administrative matters.
I am sure that implementation of the Agreement will increase the efficiency of the activity of both the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia to fulfill the tasks assigned to them.
For my part, I express my firm intention to deepen and develop Russian-Serbian law enforcement relations.
Thank you for your attention.
