The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation held a working meeting with the representatives of the prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Belarus on the issues of joining and coordination of efforts to ensure transport safety, counteraction to violations and crimes in the customs sphere.
Chief staff and officers of the Volga Transport Prosecutor’s Office, officials of the Volga Customs Department and representatives of enterprises of air and railway transportation of the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the meeting.
Problems of organization of prosecutorial supervision over execution of legislation in the transport and customs spheres were discussed. The Belarus colleagues were particularly interested in the work of Volga Transport Prosecutor’s Service in the period of preparation for the mass public events, including the Confederations Cup of 2017 and the World Cup of 2018.
The chosen format of the meeting gave an opportunity to discuss large number of topical issues, to work through the mechanisms of improvement of supervisory activity and further international cooperation, including on suppression of illegal withdrawal of assets abroad. Special attention was paid to the issues of counteraction to customs violation in the course of transfer of goods by natural persons for personal needs. Problems of application of legislation in the course of control of customs value and in the sphere of compliance with prohibitions and limitations were examined.
The Parties exchanged their views on the most significant topics of supervisory practice and elaborated mechanisms for further cooperation.
Participants of the meeting noted the practical importance of similar events and expediency of their regular conduct in order to tackle down the issues, which require joint discussion.
