Today, on May 17, 2019, a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Finland Raija Toiviainen took place within the framework of the St. Petersburg Legal Forum.
The event was also attended by Aleksey Zakharov, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, and heads of divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
Mr. Yury Chayka noted the collaborating trustworthy level of the relationships of the Russian and the Finnish parties.
Mr. Yury Chayka also thanked the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Finland for the personal contribution to their strengthening, both with regard to international organizations, in particular, the Council of the Baltic Sea States, and bilaterally.
Finnish prosecutors actively participate in implementation of the programs of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Finland.
Mr. Yury Chayka recalled that, the day before, in Moscow, within the framework of the workshop provided for by the ongoing fourth program of cooperation, Russian and Finnish experts exchanged experiences of carrying out lawmaking activities.
Mr. Yury Chayka suggested continuing the efficient practice of meetings of Russian and Finnish prosecutors in order to exchange experiences on current issues of mutual interest.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation hopes for the similarly active development of the cooperation via the International Association of Prosecutors which opened its first regional office in Saint Petersburg in the end of November 2017. It is situated in one of the most beautiful historical buildings of the city - Prince Kochubey’s House.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation reaffirmed again the focus on further developing and strengthening of the Russian-Finnish relationships.
