Meeting between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Yuri Chaika and President of the Curia of Hungary Mr. Péter Darák

Today, on July 12, 2016, at the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia Mr. Yuri Chaika, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, met with Mr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia of Hungary.

Other officials also participated in the event, namely Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Mr. Alexandr Gutsan, Heads of the Departments of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia and the Curia of Hungary, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Russian Federation Mr. János Balla. The delegation has come to Moscow with official visit on the invitation of the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.

Welcoming the guests, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stressed that progressive development of co-operation between the prosecution services of Russia and Hungary, aimed at combating against transnational crime, ensuring of protection of human rights and freedoms, also promotes good international relations.

Mr. Yuri Chaika presented to his guests tasks, structure and system of organization of work of the prosecution service of the Russian Federation.

In his speech he stressed that the activities of the Russian prosecution service are aimed at ensuring of the rule of law, protection of human rights and freedoms, public and state interests. Besides, the prosecution service co-ordinates the work of all Russian law-enforcement agencies which combat against crime.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation made special mention of significant contribution of the Russian prosecutors to the rise of effectiveness of justice and the fact that the courts make legal well-grounded decisions. Participation in criminal, civil and arbitration proceedings is an important area of everyday activity of prosecutors.

In conclusion of the meeting Mr. Yuri Chaika confirmed his firm focus on further comprehensive development of Russian-Hungarian legal relationship.
