Prosecutors General of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia to Sign Program of Inter-agency Cooperation for 2015 – 2017 on the margins of the 7th Regional Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors

Today, on the margins of the 7th Regional Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors for Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka met with the Prosecutor General of Armenia Gevorg Kostanian.

In development of the Agreement on Cooperation signed in 2006, heads of the agencies signed the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Armenia for 2015 – 2017.

The document provides for holding a number of workshops aimed at exchange of experience and advanced prosecutorial training of both states.

Thus, the program provides for holding a round table on the topic "Organization and Implementation of Prosecutorial Supervision over Investigation of Criminal Cases on Corruption Offences, Prevention of Corruption Offenses, including in the Prosecution Authorities, Analysis of Legislation on Combating Corruption".

In 2016 it is expected to hold consultation on issues of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters, as well as workshop on the topic "Exchange of Experience of the Prosecutorial Supervision over Investigation of Criminal Cases involving Allegations of Human Trafficking and Organization of Illegal Migration".

In 2017 it is expected to hold workshop on exchange of experience of the prosecutorial supervision over the activities of law enforcement authorities on combating crimes committed with the use of information technologies, as well as a round table on the topic "Analysis of Judicial Practice of Application of Special Procedure for Judicial Proceedings".

In addition, the parties agreed to exchange scientific and inter-agency publications, methodological materials on the main fields of activity of authorities and organizations of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia.

Mr. Chayka expressed his confidence that the joint work on the implementation of the decisions of the regional conference and other international forums would bring closer the positions, strengthen the understanding and would ultimately contribute to the more effective implementation of the principle of the rule of law, and the signed Program of Cooperation would increase the effectiveness of the prosecution services in performing their assigned tasks.
