Today, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka held the meeting with the Prosecutor General of the People’s Republic of China Cao Jianming on the margins of the 7th Regional Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors.
Mr. Chayka noted that the overall objectives in the prevention of acts of terrorism and violent extremism dictate the necessity for even greater interaction between the states. According to Mr. Chayka, opposition to the ideology of terrorism and extremism, combating the spread of extremist literature in social media, blocking access to extremist material both on the national level and in foreign jurisdictions, prevention of recruitment of citizens in terrorist organizations, as well as elaboration of appropriate legal means to counter these phenomena become more relevant in the present time.
In turn, Mr. Jianming thanked the Russian colleagues for the organization and holding of the 7th Regional Conference of the International Association of Prosecutors. He also expressed condolences to the Russian people in connection with the airplane crash in Egypt. The Prosecutor General of the People’s Republic of China noted that the conference topic was extremely relevant for the moment, because of new threats and challenges. He expressed his readiness for any cooperation contributing to the prevention of acts of terrorism and extremism.
The dialogue participants expressed hope that the meeting would allow for establishment of more fruitful cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Offices of both states, would be another step towards the improved cooperation, as well as would serve as a solid foundation for further joint actions in countering radicalization, preventing and resolving ethnic and religious conflicts.
Moreover, Mr. Chayka and Mr. Jianming discussed the process of implementation of the Program of Cooperation for 2014 – 2015 and plans for the implementation of the 3rd Program of Interagency Cooperation for 2016 – 2017 between the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China.
