St. Petersburg hosted the meeting of senior officials of the BRICS countries on the issues of anti-corruption cooperation.
The event was chaired by the Ambassador at Large for International Anti-Corruption Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Tarabrin.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation was represented by the Deputy Head of the Department for Supervision over Enforcement of Anti-Corruption Legislation Aslan Yusufov and the Prosecutor of the Department for Supervision over Enforcement of Anti-Corruption Legislation Andrey Onufrienko.
The Russian delegation also included representatives of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
The meeting participants exchanged views on the approaches of the BRICS countries to the international anti-corruption cooperation, discussed the issues included in the agenda of the 6th session of the Conference of the Member States to the UN Convention against Corruption, as well as negotiated on the parameters of the BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group, proposed by the Russian party and amended in accordance with the opinions of all delegations of the BRICS countries.
These parameters include the development of joint approaches of the BRICS Member States in international cooperation on combating corruption under the auspices of the United Nations, including follow-up of the sixth session of the Conference of the Member States to the UN Convention against Corruption held in St. Petersburg; promotion of joint initiatives and coordinating efforts within other international fora – the Organization for Economic Cooperation, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, G20, Financial Action Task Force on Money Laundering; the development and adoption by the BRICS Member States of joint anti-corruption instruments and initiatives (including guidelines, methodologies, best practices and guides) on issues of mutual interest in this field; conducting joint educational and training programmes on prevention of corruption for public (municipal) officials of the BRICS Member States, as well as joint anti-corruption workshops and conferences; exchange of best practices in the field of prevention and fight against corruption; development of practical cooperation in the fight against corruption, including law enforcement cooperation.
The stated forms of cooperation will be determined by the BRICS Action Plan to fight corruption elaborated by the joint efforts of the participants.
