Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka held a working meeting with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Koniuk

Today, on April 3, 2015, a meeting was held at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation between the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Koniuk.

The delegation is in Moscow at the request of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus.

The meeting was attended by the heads of departments of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Belarus, as well as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation, Igor Petrishenko.

In his welcome speech, the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation thanked Alexander Koniuk for the excellent organisation of the First Meeting of the Interstate Council for Combating Corruption held in Minsk in January 2015, where decisions were taken with regard to the Council’s terms of reference, and topical issues of cooperation within the Single Economic Space were discussed.

The heads of the supervisory offices also discussed problems of recovering overdue receivables owed to Belarusian enterprises for the goods supplied to Russian business entities, and outlined measures to address these problems.

In conclusion, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue on this and other matters at a roundtable meeting to share experience in compliance with the legislation in the sphere of economy and the investigation of economic crimes. As stated in the Plan of Joint Measures of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Belarus for 2015, the roundtable is scheduled to be held on 23-24 April in St Petersburg.
