Today, August 27, 2015, the Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Prosecutors General of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CCPG CIS) – the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and the Prosecutors General of the CIS member states of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) met with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).
The sitting was held within the framework of the 13th meeting of the Prosecutors General of the SCO Member States and the 25th meeting of CCPG CIS.
During the meeting, Mr Chayka thanked the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev for the hospitality and effective assistance in holding the anniversary meeting of CCPG CIS in Astana in the year of the 20th anniversary of its foundation, emphasizing that this was already the fourth meeting of the Coordination Council (the Council) taking place in Kazakhstan.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation noted that during all these years, the Council’s activity has been directed towards creating conditions for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation of public prosecutor’s offices in the CIS member states in combating crime, upholding the law and protecting individual rights and freedoms.
Yury Chayka informed the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the Council’s agenda focusing on the topical issues of cooperation in combating extremism and terrorism, corruption, drug trafficking and other challenges and threats in the field of law enforcement.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation also commended the contribution of Kazakh counterparts in the work of the Council, especially the active work of the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Askhat Daulbayev.
During the meeting, the Chairman of CCPG CIS – the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka handed the commemorative medal 20th Anniversary of CCPG CIS to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, as a head of state, who continually seeks to address issues of strengthening cooperation between the public prosecutor’s offices of the Commonwealth member states.
