A working meeting with the delegation of the National Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Italian Republic took place at the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation. The meeting discussed the fight against organized crime, money laundering and corruption.

The event was held as part of the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the National Anti-Mafia Directorate of the Italian Republic for 2013-2014 signed by the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika.

The delegation of the Italian Republic was headed by Giusto Sciacchitano, First Deputy of the National Anti-Mafia Prosecutor. Also Carlo Caponcello and Maria Vittoria De Simone, deputies of the National Anti-Mafia Prosecutor, attended the meeting.

Issues of organization of work and powers of prosecutors involved in criminal cases raised mutual interest among the participants. Also, two parties exchanged information about the features of public prosecution in criminal cases, organization of a criminal community and legal aspects of the money laundering control.

During the event, the participants were unanimous in their approaches to the public prosecution in cases of crimes related to the money laundering activities, as well as in cases of crimes related to the organization of a criminal community and human trafficking.

Also, there was a meeting of the Italian delegation with the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Aleksandr Zvyagintsev, during which the parties noted the importance of exchange of views on the most topical issues of interaction and observed the strong focus on comprehensive deepening and development of mutually beneficial Russian-Italian relations, including those aimed at combating crime.

The participants agreed to hold the next working meeting in a few months in Italy, during which they would discuss issues of practical concern related to bilateral cooperation.
