The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation authorized the participation of French investigators in the investigation of the Falcon plane crash

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation granted the request of the French colleagues on their arrival in Russia to participate in the investigation of the criminal case initiated in connection with the plane crash at the Vnukovo airport, in which the CEO of the Total Oil Company died on October 20, 2014.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation as a single centralized body for the implementation of the European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters of April 20, 1959 received a request from the Ministry of Justice of the French Republic on legal assistance in the criminal case initiated by the Prosecutor's Office under the Grand Instance Court in connection with the death of four French citizens as a result of the plane crash at the Vnukovo airport.

The Ministry of Justice of France requested, inter alia, for the presence of the French competent authorities’ representatives during the investigation.

In the light of the broad international resonance caused by this tragedy, taking into account the high level of mutual trust and cooperation with the competent authorities of the French Republic, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia, meeting the needs of its colleagues, promptly examined the petition, made some necessary inter-ministerial coordinations and gave a permit in accordance with Article 4 of the Convention.

The request for legal assistance in accordance with the requirements of Articles 151 and 457 of the Code of Criminal Procedure Of the Russian Federation is directed for fulfillment to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
