Today, on September 17, 2014, an official meeting was held between Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and Secretary General of INTERPOL Ronald Noble.
Yuri Chaika has congratulated the Secretary General of INTERPOL on 100th anniversary of the first International Criminal Police Congress in Monaco which laid the foundation of INTERPOL.
The meeting saw the discussion of general matters of anti-criminal cooperation, as in accordance with Russian legislation the Office of the Prosecutor General of Russian Federation coordinates the actions of the Russian law enforcement agencies directed against crime.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly appreciated work done by INTERPOL, expressing gratitude for the role of the Organization in international search for criminals, commitment to the principles of inevitability of punishment and upholding the law.
In 2013 using the resources of INTERPOL enabled detention of over 100 accused, being under international arrest warrant. More than 50 individuals wanted for committed crimes were extradited and deported to Russia. Around 2000 individuals are currently sought by Russia to be apprehended and extradited for prosecution and execution of sentences. In addition, the project
