Today, on September 17, 2014, the meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika and the Secretary General of Interpol Ronald Noble took place.

Yuri Chaika congratulated the Secretary General of Interpol with a 100-year anniversary of carrying the First International Congress of Criminal Police in Monaco that laid the foundation for the creation of Interpol.

The meeting participants discussed general issues of anti-crime cooperation, as in accordance with Russian legislation the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation coordinates the anti-crime activities of Russian law enforcement agencies.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation highly praised the work of Interpol. He expressed his appreciation of the international criminal tracking and the organization’s commitment to the principles of the inevitability of punishment and the triumph of justice.

In 2013, using its capabilities in various foreign countries, Interpol detained more than 100 accused persons put on the international wanted list by Russia. More than 50 wanted persons were extradited or deported to Russia. Currently, Russia is searching for about 2,000 people through Interpol with a view of their arrest and extradition for criminal prosecution or execution of sentence.

In addition, the Electronic Extradition project initiated in 2012 by Interpol was discussed at the meeting. The aim of the project is to provide expedited transmission of extradition requests, taking into account the fact that Interpol supports around-the-clock electronic communication with 190 member countries.
