It was held a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation and the Prosecutor General of the Swiss Confederation

Today Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka held a working meeting with the General Prosecutor of the Swiss Confederation Michael Lauber.

 

 

Welcoming the guests, Yury Chayka thanked Michael Lauber for the visit, particularly noting that the Prosecutor's offices of Russia and Switzerland had made an enormous contribution to the development of relations between the two States in the issues of struggling against criminality.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation emphasized that every year meetings of the prosecutors of Russia and Switzerland are held, and where the most topical issues of cooperation in the field of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters are discussed. Such events well contribute to more rapid and constructive settlement of appropriate requests. They allow discussing problems, developing joint ways of their solution in accordance with applicable law enforcement practices of Russia and Switzerland.

 

Yury Chayka thoroughly familiarized the Swiss colleagues with the structure of the bodies of the Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation, with the history of their development as well as with the reforms of the Russian Supervisory body at the modern stage.

 

In his turn Michael Lauber thanked Yury Chayka for the warm reception and informed the Russian colleagues about a serious reorganization of the General Prosecutor's office of the Swiss Confederation which took place a year ago.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Swiss Confederation positively appreciated the joint work of the Supervisory bodies of the two countries in the sphere of struggling against criminality and proposed to extend the working meetings of the General Prosecutors of Russia and Switzerland.

 

In the course of the dialogue the sides discussed the issues of further interaction on specific criminal cases.

 

A separate topic of discussion was the application of the General Prosecutor's office of Switzerland to the entry into the institutional membership of the International Association of prosecutors. As noted by Yury Chayka, General Prosecutor's office of Russia supports this application and hopes that next year the Swiss colleagues will participate in the 18th Annual conference and General meeting of the IAP which will be held in Moscow in September.

 

In conclusion Yury Chayka stated firm focusing on comprehensive deepening and development of Russian-Swiss relations.

 

The Prosecutor General of the Swiss Confederation thanked Yury Chayka for the opportunity of exchanging opinions on the most topical issues of cooperation.
