Today, on the 20th September of 2012 the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka made a working visit to the city of Zagreb, the Republic Of Croatia.
In the course of the visit he met with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Croatia Mladen Bayic.
In the development of the signed in January of this year the Memorandum on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's offices of the two countries, the heads of departments signed a Program of cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Croatia for the years of 2013 - 2014.
The document envisages carrying out of series of «round tables» and seminars with the purpose of exchanging experiences and improving of professional skills of the staff of the bodies of the Prosecutor’s offices of the two countries.
So, in March 2013 in Moscow it will take place a «round table» with the purpose of getting acquainted with the structure, functions and organization of the work of the bodies and institutions comprising in the system of Prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Croatia. In October 2013 in Zagreb it is planned carrying out of a workshop on the activities of the Prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Croatia in the field of fighting with corruption.
For the year of 2014 the Program provides for the holding of a «round table» on a theme: «the Activity of the Prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Croatia outside the criminal legal field» as well as the seminar on topical issues of cooperation in the sphere of extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters.
Moreover, the parties agreed to exchange departmental and scientific publications as well as methodical materials on the main directions of the activities of the bodies and institutions of the Prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Croatia.
The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stressed that in the course of realisation of the programme activities Russian and Croatian prosecutors will get the opportunity to exchange valuable experiences on solving problems which undoubtedly increases the efficiency of work in the field of protection of citizens' rights and in the fight against criminality.
In the course of the visit Yury Chayka also met with the President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović.
Yury Chayka and Ivo Josipović discussed the contractual legal base of cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Croatia in the field of struggling against criminality as well as interaction of public prosecutor’s offices of Russia and Croatia. It was noted that the signed of Memorandum and the Program of cooperation open up a wide range of opportunities for direct interaction between Russian and Croatian prosecutors in the issues of fighting against corruption, transnational criminality, in the protection of human rights and freedoms and interests of the state.
Moreover, Yury Chayka expressed his strong focusing towards all-round deepening and development of Russian-Croatian relations as well as the continuation of the current constructive dialogue with our Croatian colleagues which undoubtedly will bring positive results and increase the effectiveness of joint work.
