It is signed an Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Slovenia

Today on the 18th of September 2012 the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka arrived with a working visit at the city of Ljubljana, Republic Of Slovenia.

In the course of the visit he met with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia Zvonko Fisher.

The heads of departments signed an Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's office of the Republic of Slovenia.

The document provides for carrying out consultations on legal issues including at the stage of preparation and consideration of separate requests for extradition and requests for mutual legal assistance, exchange of experience in the field of fighting against criminality including its organized forms, terrorism, corruption, illegal trafficking of weapons, narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, trafficking in human beings, crimes in the sphere of economics, high technologies and other crimes that represent a serious threat to society. Additionally, the Agreement provides for the exchange of information about the legal system and legislation of the two countries, carrying out joint scientific researches, conferences and seminars on topical issues of the activities, professional training and improvement of qualification of the employees of departments.

In the course of the meeting the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation stressed the importance and relevance of signing of the Agreement, since up to this time there was no document envisaging direct contacts between public prosecutor’s offices of the two countries, and interdepartmental cooperation was carried out in a bilateral format and within international bodies and organizations such as the international Association of prosecutors, the consultative Council of European prosecutors.

Yury Chayka noted that signing and further implementation of the Agreement will allow increasing the efficiency of the activity of Prosecutor's offices to carry out their tasks and confirmed strong focusing towards all-round deepening and development of Russian-Slovenian relations.

Tomorrow on September 19, 2012 it is scheduled a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka with the Chairman of the State Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia Gregor Virant.

Furthermore, the Russian delegation is starting with a visit to the Republic of Croatia.
