The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation signed the first Agreement on cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of the Russian Federation and the Dominican Republic

Today in the General Prosecutor's office of Russia it was held a meeting of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yury Chayka and the Prosecutor General of the Dominican Republic Jiménez Peña Ramona Radhamés.

In the course of the meeting it was signed the Agreement on cooperation between the General Prosecutor's offices of the Russian Federation and the Dominican Republic.

This Agreement is the first document between the law enforcement authorities of the two countries in the whole and between the General Prosecutor's offices in particular.

The document provides for holding of meetings and consultations for the exchange of experiences, trainings and improvement of qualification of employees of the departments. Moreover, the Agreement provides for the exchange of information about the legal system and legislation of the two countries, carrying out of joint researches, conferences and seminars on topical issues of the activity.

The signing of the Agreement is the continuation of the process of strengthening of working contacts between the Supervisory departments of the two countries that begun in 2010.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation noted that the implementation of the Agreement will also enhance the efficiency of the activities of prosecutor's offices of the two countries on implementation of the functions assigned to them, including in relation to the consideration of requests for extradition and legal assistance in criminal matters.

In his turn, Jiménez Peña Ramona Radhamés thanked the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation for the warm reception and noted that the Agreement will strengthen interdepartmental communications and ensure protection of the interests of Russian citizens and businesses as well.

The Attorney General of the Dominican Republic stressed that the document is aimed at ensuring the principle of the inevitability of responsibility for the committed crimes. This applies both to persons hiding from the law enforcement authorities for committing crimes on the territory of Russia as well as to Russians who have committed illegal actions in the Dominican Republic.

The sides also expressed confidence that the signed Agreement will become a real tool which allows pacing into a new level of interaction and will contribute to enhancing the efficiency of activities in the field of protection of the rights and freedoms of a human being and a citizen.
