Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov paid a working visit to St. Petersburg

Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation arrived to St. Petersburg with a working visit.

On the eve of the events of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, planned for June 4, where Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation will participate in the session “National aims of development: from tasks to results”, a meeting between Igor Krasnov and Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia Artur Davtyan, who also arrived to St. Petersburg to participate in the Forum, was hold.

Negotiations took place in the M.V. Kochubey Mansion, which is the federal cultural heritage monument. Upon results of the meeting, the Memorandum on priority directions of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Armenia for 2021-2025 was signed.

Igor Krasnov noted that Russia and Armenia are striving for legality, law and order and have a common approach to priority directions of struggle against modern crimes and their prevention. Among them are the following: combating organized crime, cybercrime, including with the use of digital currency, legalization of criminal assets, terrorism, extremism, including glorification of nazism, corruption; recovery of assets to the country of origin; protection of rights of minors; prevention of environmental crimes and others.

The Memorandum was signed in order to enforce the Russian-Armenian relations in the law enforcement sphere.

“I suppose this document will become an additional instrument for prosecutor’s services of Russia and Armenia to settle topical issues. Proposals on its practical implementation – conduct of an expert meeting in order to exchange experience in the sphere of combating illegal transborder transfer of financial assets and combating cybercrime – have already been sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia” – said Igor Krasnov.

Prosecutors General of Russia and Armenia expressed their firm intention to continue further development of cooperation between the prosecutor’s services of the two states.

The same day Igor Krasnov also visited St. Petersburg State University, where he met head of the University Nikolay Kropachev and discussed issues of cooperation between the prosecutor’s service and the University.

Moreover, head of the supervision authority visited prosecutor’s office of the city of St. Petersburg, where he awarded prosecutor of the Kolpinsky District of the city Igor Ivkin with a state award of merit in strengthening the rule of law, protection of human rights and interests. In November 2020 Igor Ivkin saved six children, who were taken hostages. Prosecutor acted resolutely in a dangerous situation, persuaded the criminal to surrender and none of the children suffered. In this connection, Prosecutor General of Russia submitted him for the award. By the Decree of the President of Russia of 29.03.2021, prosecutor of the Kolpinsky District of the city of St. Petersburg, senior counselor of justice, Igor Ivkin, was awarded with the Second Class Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland.

Igor Krasnov also visited the Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation for the North-Western Federal District, where he held a meeting with the subordinates.
