Thanks to cooperation of the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Russia and Georgia persons who committed murder in Tbilisi have been sentenced

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has arranged execution of the request of the competent authorities of Georgia for criminal prosecution of Russian nationals E.AKHMEDOV and G.ISKENDEROV.

On 31.07.2020, basing on the results of investigation and the verdict of the jury of 21.07.2020, the Moscow City Court found the above persons guilty of the crimes stipulated in Article 105, part 2 “g” (murder) and Article 222, part 2 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transport or possession of firearms, its spare parts and munitions) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Each of the offenders was sentenced to 15-years’ imprisonment in a correctional colony with a strict regime.

It was established that in September 2017, in Tbilisi, AKHMEDOV and ISKENDEROV, acting as a group of persons by preliminary agreement, committed a murder. They also illegally stored and possessed firearms and munitions.

The criminal case was investigated by the competent authorities of Georgia. In 2019, after the offenders had been located in Russia and their Russian citizenship established, the criminal case was transferred to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation attached to the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia for criminal prosecution of the fugitives. The case was further investigated by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Saint Petersburg according to the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters of 22.01.1993.

The Judicial Chamber on Criminal Cases of the First Appeal Court has upheld the sentence, which has become final.
