Accessory to Terrorism Convicted Owing to Successful Cooperation of Prosecutor’s Offices of Russia and Tajikistan

National of Tajikistan Kobildzhon Nematov was sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment by the judgment of the Khudzhand Court of the Sogdiysk Region of the Republic of Tajikistan for perpetration of a crime on the territory of Russia envisaged by Article 33 part 5, Article 205.5 part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (complicity to organization of activity of a terrorist organization and participation in activity of such organization).

In 2016, Mr. Nematov, being a supporter of ideas of terrorist organizations, staying in the city of Surgut, rendered assistance in departure of three persons abroad for participation in military operations.

After his whereabouts was established on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan, materials of the case together with a request for criminal prosecution of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation were sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan under Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters of 22.01.1993.

Subject to the unserved term for perpetration of another crime in Tajikistan, Mr. Nematov was finally sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment in the strict regime correctional colony.
