The organizer of a criminal group stealing expensive cars was extradited from Czechia to Russia

At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Czech Republic extradited Anatoliy Zernov to Russia.

He is accused by the investigation authorities of committing a crime provided for by Article 158 (4) (a, b) (theft, i.e. the secret larceny of other people's property, committed by an organized group, on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, in September 2015, in the territory of the Volgograd Region, Zernov created an organized criminal group for the purpose of stealing expensive cars and their subsequent sale.

At the end of 2015 – January 2016, they stole two cars, worth 1 million and 600 thousand rubles and 1 million rubles. When moving the stolen cars, Zernov’s accomplices were detained, and he hid.

An indictment ruling was issued in respect of Zernov, and a measure of restriction in the form of detention was selected. At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, he was placed on the international wanted list.

In the middle of 2017, he was detained in the territory of Czechia, and after that the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for his extradition for bringing him to criminal liability.

On 24.04.2018, the Minister of Justice of the Czech Republic granted Zernov’s extradition to Russia.

The surrender of the accused was postponed until he has served the punishment inflicted by the Czech court for the crime committed in the territory of that state.

Anatoliy Zernov will be delivered to Moscow accompanied by a special convoy.
