Russia has extradited to Germany a person, accused of theft and illegal drug trafficking

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has granted the request of the Federal Office of Justice of the Federal Republic of Germany for extradition of Mr. Waldemar BERGER for his criminal prosecution for theft and illegal drug trafficking.

During the examination it was established that there are criminal cases pending in the Land Court of Regensburg, Federal Republic of Germany, against Mr. BERGER accused of a number of offences.

From November 2013 till 2016, he stole from “OSRAM Opto Semiconductors” and then sold about 67 kilogram of gold, having caused more than 2 million euro damage.

In 2012-2013, Mr. BERGER in Regenstauf illegally purchased marijuana no less than 6 times. A part of it he sold to other persons for use.

The Regensburg Land Court, Federal Republic of Germany, issued arrest warrants against Mr. BERGER. He was also declared wanted.

Actions of Waldemar BERGER are punishable according to the Russian criminal law and covered by Article 158, part 4 “b” of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft, committed in especially large amount); Article 228.1, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal sale of narcotic drugs). The limitation periods have not elapsed yet according to the laws of the Russian Federation and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Waldemar BERGER convoyed by the officers of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service has been surrendered to the competent authorities of Germany.
