Delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation took part in a Russian-Slovenian round table in Ljubljana

A delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation took part in the Russian-Slovenian round table on the topic “Peculiarities of carrying out the prosecutorial supervision over execution of laws on countering corruption, legalization of proceeds of crime, as well as extremism and terrorism in Russia and Slovenia” which took place on September 28, 2021 in Ljubljana.

The event was conducted pursuant to the Program of cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Office of the State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia.

The meeting was opened by Mr. Drago Šketa, State Prosecutor General of the Republic of Slovenia, who warmly welcomed the Russian delegation, while noting the relevance of the topic of the oncoming discussion and highly commending the level of interaction between the prosecution services of Russia and Slovenia.

Within the framework of the meeting, the parties exchanged the experiences of work on countering terrorist and extremist crimes, including those committed with the use of Internet, as well as connected with recruitment and involvement in activity of terrorist and extremist organizations. They discussed the specifics of investigation and judicial examination of cases of crimes of that category.

Participants made presentations about peculiarities of carrying out the supervision over compliance with laws on countering corruption and got acquainted with the system of organization of activities of public authorities involved in the process of fight against corruption threats.

In the course of the discussion of specific cases examples, they reviewed the differences and similarities in the Russian and Slovenian legislative regulation of the activities of the prosecution services in that direction.

The parties mutually emphasized the necessity of combining the efforts to counter new challenges and threats in order to improve the efficiency of countering crime and take timely and adequate measures aimed at its prevention.

This event is the concluding one within the current program of cooperation between the prosecution services of Russia and Slovenia.

An agreement has been reached with the Slovenian party to develop a next bilateral program.
