A citizen charged with the offence of stealing money from a flat of his acquaintance is being extradited from Hungary to Russia

Pursuant to a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of Hungary are extraditing Sergey Putilov to Russia for the purposes of brining to justice.

He is being charged with the commission of a crime provided for in Article 158 paragraph 3 sub-paragraph “в” (theft on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

A criminal case is being handled by the Krasnoselskiy District Court of the city of Saint Petersburg.

As per the investigation, from November 2019 to January 2020, while being in the city of Saint Petersburg within the flat of his acquaintance, he stole her personal savings in the amount of 5 thousand US dollars.

Due to the fact that at the trial stage he had fled from justice, he was put on the international wanted list pursuant to an instruction from the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

In September 2021 he was detained in Hungary. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office confirmed its intention to demand his extradition.

The Hungarian party made a prompt decision to extradite Sergey Putilov to Russia following the summary procedure.

Today Sergey Putilov will be escorted from Budapest to Moscow.
