National accused of attempted illegal sale of amphetamine extradited to Russia from Poland

At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, competent authorities of the Republic of Poland extradited Aleksey Kalchenko to Russia.

He is accused of the crime, envisaged by Article 30 part 3, Article 228.1 part 4 paragraph “d” (attempted illegal sale of psychotropic substances on especially large scale, if the crime has not been finalized due to the reasons beyond the control of this person) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, in November 2014 in Moscow, in the course of the “controlled purchase” operation, Mr. Kalchenko illegally sold psychotropic substance (amphetamine) in the amount of 1.45 grams, and afterwards he was detained by the police officers.

Since Mr. Kalchenko violated the selected measure of restriction in the form of home arrest and fled from the preliminary investigation authorities, he was declared internationally wanted.

In March 2021 he was detained in the territory of Poland, and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a request for extradition of the fugitive for criminal prosecution to foreign colleagues, and it was complied with.
