Round table on the issues of countering terrorism, cyber- and transnational crime held in Tatarstan within the framework of implementation of the Cooperation Program between the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia and the Ministry of Justice of Turkey for 2021-2022

On November 25, 2021, in the city of Innopolis (Republic of Tatarstan), a Russia-Turkey round table was held on the topic “Exchange of information and experience on the spheres of countering terrorism, transnational crime, cybercrime and mutual legal assistance in criminal cases concerning such crimes”.

The said event was held within the framework of implementation of the Program of Cooperation between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey for the period of 2021-2022.

The following officials took part in the meeting: representatives of the General Department of Criminal Court Proceedings, General Department of International Legal Cooperation, General Department of Supervision over Investigation, Inquiry and Operational and Search Activity, Department of Supervision over Compliance with Laws on Federal Security, Inter-Ethnic Relations, Countering Extremism and Terrorism of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, as well as heads and officials of the Prosecution Office of the Republic of Tatarstan.

From the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey the following officials took part in the event: representatives of the General Directorate for European Union and Foreign Affairs and General Directorate of Law-Making of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, as well as a liaison officer of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey – legal adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Russian Federation.

The Parties exchanged views on the issues of search and investigation of crimes related to financing of terrorism, cyber- and transnational crimes, discussed practice of judicial review of criminal cases pertaining to such crimes. The participants of the meeting also discussed practical aspects of review of requests for extradition of persons wanted by the competent authorities for commission of crimes, of organization of international legal assistance in the cases of said category.

As a result of the meeting, the Parties agreed to continue exchange of information on topical issues of countering crime and to further develop interaction, including within the framework of the Cooperation Program, which is being implemented between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Turkey.
