In the composition of the governmental delegation representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation participated in the 9th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption

In the composition of the governmental delegation, representatives of the Department for Supervision over Execution of Legislation on Counteraction to Corruption of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation participated in the 9th session of the Conference of the States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption (videoconference format), which took place in the period from December 13-17, 2021 in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).

During the Conference they made a report dedicated to the completion in Russia of the second round of the UNCAC review mechanism.

Thematic of the second round is devoted to the measures aimed at counteraction to corruption and at recovery of assets, and it is quite extensive. The Russian party was represented by all 15 appointed governmental experts from the different state authorities. The review was complicated by the coronavirus pandemic which made the country visit impossible and which is typical for all monitoring mechanism in this period. However other means of direct dialogue were used, such as teleconference.

In the nearest future proposals on execution of recommendations, set forth in the report, will be prepared. Now the issue on publication of the country report on Russia is being discussed.

Moreover, at the invitation of China, representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation participated in the event, organized on the sidelines of the Conference and dedicated to strengthening of international cooperation in the sphere of counteraction to corruption, exchange of information on corrupt officials and on criminal proceeds in order to exclude their concealment in other states, and made a report on the Russian experience in the sphere of international cooperation and exchange of information in the framework of anticorruption inspections outside the field of criminal justice.
