National accused of murder extradited to Russia from Germany

The competent authorities of the Federal Republic of Germany granted the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation for extradition of Artur Ozmanyan. He is accused of having committed the crime provided for by Article 105 (1) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder).

The criminal case against Ozmanyan is being handled by the Investigations Department in the Kostroma Region of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to the investigation, on 3 June 2012, Ozmanyan, being on a site situated near the building of the palace of culture “Yubileyniy” in the city of Nerekhta of the Kostroma Region, during a quarrel due to personal animosity towards another person, with the purpose to kill, deliberately stabbed the latter with a knife in the abdomen not less than one time. With the received bodily injuries, the victim was taken to a hospital where he subsequently died.

Since the malefactor absconded from the law enforcement authorities, a measure of restriction in the form of detention was selected for him, and he was placed on the international wanted list at the instruction of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.

Ozmanyan was detained in the territory of Germany. After that, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation sent a corresponding request for his extradition for bringing him to criminal liability.

Today, accompanied by officers of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and the Interpol NCB of the MIA of Russia, Artur Ozmanyan will be delivered to Moscow.
