Poland extradited a person accused of large-scale fraud to Russia

At the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the competent authorities of the Republic of Poland extradited Lilia Kovalenko to Russia. She is accused of committing a crime, envisaged by Article 159 part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).

The Investigative Division of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Vologda is inquiring into the criminal case instituted against Kovalenko.

In the course of investigation it was established that Kovalenko, being Director of the OOO “Vosmoye nebo-tur”, during the period from March 16 to June 16, 2015, in the city of Vologda, signed the contracts on selection and reservation of tours with 4 citizens and, abusing her official powers, received funds in the amount of approximately 700.000 rubles, which she used at her discretion. However, she did not fulfill her commitments and fled.

Under the instructions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, Kovalenko was put on the international wanted list. In July 2021, she was detained on the territory of Poland. After receiving the corresponding request, the competent authorities of this country adopted a positive decision on extradition of the accused. Escorted by a special convoy, Lilia Kovalenko was delivered to Russia.
