Russian-Egyptian round table on issues of countering cybercrimes and illegal use of virtual currency took place in the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia

Today, on August 31, in the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia, within the framework of the Program of Cooperation for 2022-2024 signed with the Public Prosecution Office of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a round table took place. The event was devoted to issues of prosecutors’ role and powers in the sphere of countering cybercrimes and illegal use of virtual currency.

The round table was attended by the heads of relevant divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia. For the Egyptian part, the delegation was headed by Ramy Goba, Senior Advocate General, New Cairo Prosecution.

The representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia made reports on issues of countering legalization (laundering) of virtual currency, expressions of extremism and terrorism in the Internet.

The participants of the event exchanged the best practices of countering cybercrimes and illegal turnover of digital assets; in particular, they discussed international legal aspects of this work.

The Russian prosecutors told about the activity to counter financial and credit offences, committed with the use of information and communication technologies, and shared the judicial practice in finding information prohibited from distribution in the territory of Russia.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed their intention of successful and efficient implementing the Program of Cooperation for the purpose of strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the prosecution services of Russia and Egypt.
