Section VI. Organization and Functioning of the Military Prosecution Authorities

Article 46. Structure and Organization of the Military Prosecution Authorities

The system of the military prosecution authorities comprises of the Chief Military Prosecutor’s Office, Military Prosecutor’s Offices of military districts, fleets, Strategic Missile Forces, the Federal Border Service of the Russian Federation, Moscow Municipal Military Prosecutor’s Office and other Military Prosecutor’s Offices equivalent to the Prosecution Services of the constituent elements of the Russian Federation, Military Prosecutor’s Offices of formations, units, garrisons and other Military Prosecutor’s Offices equivalent to the Regional, Municipal Prosecutor’s Offices… ]
  2. The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation shall be responsible for the formation, reorganization and liquidation of the military prosecution authorities, for determination of their status, competence, structure and personnel…]

The military prosecution authorities shall be headed by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation – the Chief Military Prosecutor, who regulates the activities of the military prosecution authorities, ensures the recruitment, appointment and education of personnel, performs evaluation of military prosecutors and investigators, issues orders and instructions subject to mandatory execution by all Military Prosecutor’s Offices.
  4. The military prosecution authorities shall exercise their powers in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, other forces, military formations and bodies, established in accordance with federal laws and other regulations.
