International cooperation in combating corruption - The Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation

On November 9, 2017 on the margins of the Seventh Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption pursuant to the initiative of the representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation responsible for the participation of the Russian Federation in the Second Cycle of the Mechanism for the Review of Implementation of Chapters II and V of the Convention, the Meeting was held between the experts from the Russian Federation and the representatives of the Review States from Albania and Zimbabwe with the participation of the Secretariat of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
The Russian Federation was represented by the members of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
The Republic of Albania was represented by the members of the Ministry of Justice, and the Republic of Zimbabwe was represented by the members of the Anti-Corruption Commission.
When opening the Meeting, the head of the Department of Supervision over Execution of Anti-Corruption Legislation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation informed the participants of the work done by the Russian Party within the designated direction and expressed hope for the effective cooperation among the states represented to continue.
In its turn, the Albanian Party supported the initiative to continue the cooperation and advised that the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Albania had been designated the authority responsible for the review and was willing to designate the governmental experts shortly who would assess the Russian Federation and inform the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and Russia of the decision made.
The representatives of the Republic of Zimbabwe advised that the Anti-Corruption Commission had already designated the governmental experts.
Pursuant to the outcomes of Meeting, the arrangements were made by the Parties pertaining to the continued interaction within the framework of the Convention Implementation Review Mechanism.
