International cooperation in combating corruption

Representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation took part in the 77th Plenary Meeting of the Group of States against Corruption

On October 16-18, 2017, Russian delegation headed by Mr. Aleksandr Buksman, First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, took part in the 77th Plenary Meeting of the Group of States against Corruption (GRECO), which was held in Strasbourg (France).

Besides officers of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation, representatives of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Directorate, judicial authorities and the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation took part in the event.

The Meeting adopted the evaluation report concerning the Russian Federation on the theme “Preventing Corruption among Parliamentarians, Judges and Prosecutors”.

The report contains information as to the results of GRECO’s assessment of compliance of Russian anti-corruption legislation and its application with anti-corruption standards of the Council of Europe, as well as recommendation of elimination of drawbacks revealed by GRECO.

Within the framework of the above report the following issues, in particular, were examined: transparency of legislative process, judicial proceedings and dealing with cases by prosecution service, anti-corruption limitations and prohibitions for parliamentarians, judges and prosecutors, declaring by them of their incomes and properties, etc.

According to the decision of the Plenary Meeting, the Russian Federation shall produce information as to measures taken in order to fulfill the GRECO’s recommendations, stipulated in the report, before the end of April of 2019.
